Check prices before choosing a station
Drivers in the UK can now look up fuel prices in Google Maps and Waze before deciding where to stop. Searching for “petrol” or “fuel” in either app brings up nearby stations with prices shown on the map, making it possible to compare cost as well as location.
The listings include petrol and diesel prices. Drivers can also view prices for the different fuel types offered by a station in one place, which may help them compare stations that sell the fuel they need.
Google says the feature uses Fuel Finder and was developed with the UK Government and the UK Waze community. It describes the price information as real-time, but the announcement does not specify how frequently individual station prices are updated.
